Kelly DeLucia is running for VA-HD-96.
[2018] Annie Craig (MN-02)
Democrat and former healthcare executive, Annie Craig recently ran for and lost this congressional seat in 2016, but is already back in the game, reportedly ready to challenge Republican Jason Lewis, a conservative radio talk show host, in 2018. The 2016 Presidential margin was within 2 percentage point at [Trump 47-45], a margin of less than 7,000 votes. The congressional vote split the same way. This will be a good race to watch in 2018 - to note whether and how large a Trump backlash will be. [2018] Gretchen Whitmer (MI-GOV)
Leader of the Democratic Caucus in the Michigan State Senate, Gretchen Whitmer, declared her candidancy for the 2018 Race for Michigan Governor early January. Of the 36 Governorship's open to election between 2017-2018, the Michigan seat will be one of the most competitive, and is currently held by Republican Rick Synder - an enemy of labor rights, women's rights, and Flint, Michigan. Whitmer herself rose to some national notice when she disclosed her experience with sexual assault on the Michigan State Capitol Floor to protest an oppressive Anti-Choice law. |
City Councilwoman LaToya Cantrell is running for Mayor of New Orleans.
[2017] WINNER: Monica Kurth (IA-HD89)
On a special election held Jan, 31st, retired community college instructor Monica Kurth, a Democrat, handily beat her Republican challenger Mike Gonzales, a local police officer, in an election that seems to signal an early Trump backlash. Kurth took a huge margin [72-27] in a district that went to HRC [52-41] in November. A major reason for the huge swing was the ~$60,000 of funding that the Iowa Democratic Party and campaign were able to raise, as well as a focus on delivering absentee votes, which were 40% of the vote total and gave the Democratic candidate an early [12-1] lead. We're thrilled to have Kurth join the Iowa State House, having campaigned on increased funding for education, protecting collective bargaining rights for public employees, and protecting state funding for Planned Parenthood. [2017] Elizabeth Guzman for Virginia's 31st
A progressive immigrant from Peru, Elizabeth Guzman came to this country to give her daughter an greater opportunity to fulfill her potential. Now, Guzman hopes to continue her hard work and ensure that all residents of Prince William and the Commonwealth of Virginia will be able to reach similar heights. With an emphasis on strengthening the education system and making sure working families have good access to healthcare, Guzman is running to be the first Hispanic representative in Virginia and will take on the anti-woman and anti-immigrant Republicans in Virginia's House of Delegates to ensure that all have the same great opportunities that she was able to give her daughter. |
[2017] WINNER: Jacqueline Smith (VA)
Smith beat the odds in April to claim the local seat of Prince William County Clerk from the Republican district. [2017] WINNER: Stephanie Hansen
Stephanie Hansen is running for this Delaware Senate Seat 10 in a consistent but competitive Democratic district. Hansen, an environmental lawyer and Former New Castle Country President is running against Republican John Marino, a former police officer. This is a very important race because it will determine the party balance in the Delaware State Senate, and Delaware is one of only a handful Democratic "Trifecta" states - where the Democrats hold the majority in all levels of State Government. If you want to get involved, contact the campaign at Hansen For Senate. Previously, John Marino has come within two points of winning DE-SD10; so this vote will likely be to the margin, and depend mostly on Election Day turnout. Get Fired Up, Delaware! [2018] Connie Johnson for OK-GOV
With an early start to a tough campaign, Bernie Progressive State Rep. Connie Johnson last took a bite at a state-wide election in 2014 when she lost a bid to represent Oklahoma in the US Senate. With the primary itself about a year away, this provides Rep. Johnson with a shot of building some public support before other Democrats throw their hats in the ring. |
